Bayerisches Landesamt für Pflege will be responsible for the state recognition of foreign nursing professions in Bavaria from 01.07.2023. The nursing profession is a regulated profession. This means: a recognition of professional qualification is absolutely necessary to work in this profession.

• You want to work in Bavaria.
• You have acquired a state or state-recognized professional qualification as a nursing specialist in your country of origin.
• You can prove your training/professional qualification with a certificate of completion.
• You may practice the profession in your country of training without restriction.

What documents do I need to submit?

You will find all the information you need in our leaflets, forms and documents, which we update on an ongoing basis.

Your cooperation is important so that we can process your application without delays. Please send us all the necessary documents in full. If documents are missing, we will inform you. In this case, please reply and send us the missing documents as soon as possible.

Procedure:

You can submit your application online or by post. When we receive your application, we will send you a confirmation.

Waiver of in-depth equivalency testing:

The waiver of the in-depth equivalence test is only possible for degrees from outside EU member states/European Economic Area/Switzerland (third countries). A waiver can reduce the duration of processing. Also, somewhat lower costs, as fewer documents are necessary than for an in-depth equivalence check.

General information:

Bayerisches Landesamt für Pflege will review your application. You will then receive a letter or notice from us with the result. In it you will also find all the important information for the next steps.

If we cannot immediately consider your professional qualification as “equivalent”, you can compensate for this. Here you can choose between an adaptation course and a knowledge test/aptitude test.

Cost:

The process costs money. We will charge you a fee of between 40 and 70 euros.
There is also a fee of 40 euros for the certificate.

In addition, there are costs for translations and possibly for certifications. If you have to take a compensatory measure, there will be additional costs for adaptation course/knowledge test/aptitude test and, if necessary, a preparatory course. Further costs arise if you have to repeat the compensation measure.
